Without Limits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sperm whales<\/p>\n\n\n\n

traverse the oceans –<\/p>\n\n\n\n

the Pacific, the Atlantic, the Arctic –<\/p>\n\n\n\n

imperceptible tender tumescences of the world<\/p>\n\n\n\n

they warm their porous liquid bodies in the currents<\/p>\n\n\n\n

unfold a grace gray, soft and smooth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Distance does not matter to them<\/p>\n\n\n\n

of \u201cwho gets what\u201d they know nothing<\/p>\n\n\n\n

their cold fins shudder almost disproportionately bold<\/p>\n\n\n\n

across the terraqueous globe<\/p>\n\n\n\n

they breathe deeply<\/p>\n\n\n\n

in the Indian and lightly in the Antarctic<\/p>\n\n\n\n

conversing in the sonority of cries<\/p>\n\n\n\n

joyous arias and yawps<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Underwater waves of sound and matter and energy<\/p>\n\n\n\n

in the optical or acoustical or center from which they are recharged<\/p>\n\n\n\n

in the receptors of transparent skin<\/p>\n\n\n\n

or even in their first undulating substance<\/p>\n\n\n\n

they advance together rhythmically and mate<\/p>\n\n\n\n

one body framed by the other,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

themselves replacing the compass needles,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

redistributing in the South and North the genes of their species<\/p>\n\n\n\n

puffing and blowing passionately as a fountain,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

sinking again inside soft darkness<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I might inspire you tonight across the terraqueous globe<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So that we do not feel, blind, the world’s borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
